The tenth week once more provided excitement, with a huge upset for the Bills demonstrating the 'any given Sunday' saying that attracts so many people into the NFL
That result may have opened opportunities for the Patriots to creep back into a leading position they formerly held, with a schedule that provides them an edge over their eight and two rivals
Meanwhile in the National Football Conference the Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams had perfect results to set up a monster clash in week 11, while our top performer is chasing records as well as the MVP award
The Breakdown - Just a Bad Day for the Bills?
Could it simply have been an emotional letdown from beating the Chiefs the previous week or something more? That's the question for the Buffalo team to address
The Buffalo squad had won seven in a row against Miami but were outperformed from the beginning as the Dolphins ran out 30-13 winners in an surprising result - and display
MVP Josh Allen only got the squad's opening first down in the third quarter and initial scoring in the fourth - admittedly Miami had 10 days to get ready but it was nonetheless a massive egg produced by one of the league's top offences
Dolphins quarterback Tua passed for two scores but running back De'Von Achane was the devastating difference, with 225 total yards and two scores
Bottling up the NFL's top running game was also key, with Cook and teammates recording just 86 yards, their fewest of the season and just over half their 161.5-yard average
Then there were the three crucial ball losses, and the pair from Allen specifically. An interception in the end zone resulting in a nine minute drive produced nothing, and his fourth-quarter fumble that Miami converted to a touchdown just two plays
It was typical 'old Buffalo' as they shot themselves in the foot, falling into a hole on defense and Allen trying to overcompensate to dig his team out of it - rather than the calm, controlled, balanced Buffalo team we've witnessed this season
The Dolphins have demonstrated a bit of everything this season so the jury's out on whether this is the beginning of a trend, but for Buffalo they'll need an immediate bounce-back in a difficult matchup against the Buccaneers in week 11 as the New England are sneaking into a comfortable advantage at the top of the American Football Conference East
Spotlight - Patriots See Path to Unexpected First Place
Speaking of the Patriots, they're among three eight and two teams in the league, all AFC sides, but could they be the top team?
You can pick holes in New England, the Broncos and the Colts really for feasting on the lesser sides, with just five of their total 24 victories achieved against teams with a winning record - and one example was the Colts defeating the Denver
Denver defeated the champion Eagles in Philly and are kings of the final quarter while Indy can rely on Jonathan Taylor, but the Patriots adding Sunday's win in Tampa to their primtime success in Buffalo appears to be a declaration
Their two defeats occurred in recently appointed coach Mike Vrabel's first three games, with seven consecutive wins, similar to Denver, from that point - but taking down Mayfield after the Buccaneers had a bye to get ready was significant
Maye's MVP claims won't go away, and he definitely earns credit for courage after taking some hard tackles in Tampa but persevering to guide his team to success
The defensive unit is reliable and first-year running back TreVeyon Henderson burst onto the scene on game day with 147 rushing yards and two exhilerating scores of fifty-five and sixty-nine yards - establishing himself as just the fifth different runner to exceed 22 miles per hour this season on his initial touchdown
While you can argue who 'the best' is technically, the Patriots should be favourites to end with the top record due to their schedule - which includes just one game against a winning team, although a huge one against Buffalo
Traveling to Baltimore is challenging too, but Denver have it more difficult in the AFC West with the Chiefs to play twice, the Chargers (who might also compete for first place but face the identical challenge) and additionally the Green Bay on the fixture list
The Colts also play the Kansas City, and have the Seahawks, 49ers and two matchups with the 5-4 Jaguars to face. There's a considerable distance to go but the opportunity is available for a shock top seed in the AFC
Next Week - Los Angeles and Seattle Prepare for Next Week Showdown
Both squads with solid claims to be better than all of the three eight and two teams are NFC West opponents the Seahawks and Los Angeles, who each put up forty points to reach seven and two before next week's major meeting between the two in Los Angeles
They've both secured four victories in a consecutive games, have quarterbacks in Stafford and Sam Darnold playing at an high standard (although Darnold had turnover issues on game day) with excellent pass catchers, and defenses giving up under 20 points a game
Both could easily be without a loss as too - particularly the Rams as their two defeats came in overtime against the 49ers and then that painful defeat in Philly when they had a potentially winning kick with the final play deflected and run back by the Eagles for a score
Seattle also lost to San Francisco, with a last-minute score in week one, before losing to the final play of the game against the Buccaneers - so they're truly among the top teams in the NFL
The upcoming game on Sunday could be the most exciting of the season so far
Top Performer - Jonathan Taylor
Taylor might be on for a record season after his remarkable performance in Germany - running for 244 yards, registering three touchdowns and adding an additional 42 {receiving yards
