Cars in Germany's City Discovered Smeared with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Report

Around 50 cars have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they reported in a statement.

Officers say they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.

The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they stated.

Police then located numerous other smeared vehicles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations banning the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials report early analysis show the liquid was likely human blood.

"There is still no clue as to its origin; investigators are not yet aware of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they stated.

City officials stated they were working "to unravel the incident" and have asked to the community for tips.

A senior official stated the vandalism made him stunned and required to be resolved quickly.

"This act affects the center of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he wrote on social media, mentioning the death of nine people by a shooter focusing on people of migrant background in five years prior.
