US performer Pat Finn, who was seen in iconic television series like Friends, Seinfeld and "The Middle", has died at the age of 60.
The skilled improv artist passed away at his residence in Los Angeles recently after undergoing treatment for a cancer diagnosis beginning in 2022, according to reports.
"He saw everyone as a friend - solely future friends he hadn't encountered," his family stated in a announcement.
They noted that he had "embraced life completely - with happiness and energy".
An Extensive TV Career
His debut TV appearance was on the George Wendt Show in the mid-90s, where he played the lead character's sibling.
He also had a repeating character on "Murphy Brown" between 1995 and 1997.
He appeared as a party host named Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a party host famous for delegating tedious tasks to his guests.
Throughout the 90s and 2000s, he had guest spots on a variety of hit series, like:
- "King of Queens"
- "Friends"
- "That '70s Show"
- "House"
He was most recognized for playing Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight series over nearly a decade.
His cinematic roles include "It's Complicated" and "Santa Paws 2".
Beyond the Screen
Away from his on-screen roles, Finn was a skilled improviser and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.
He was involved with a comedy group of six named "Beer Shark Mice".
"He taught, supported, and inspired many learners during his career and it's nearly impossible to find someone anyplace who has anything negative to say about him," his family wrote.
Paying homage, colleague and actor Richard Kind noted there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, down to earth person you could encounter".
"Perpetually optimistic, making those around him better and funnier. An excellent dad and person," he posted online.
The actor is survived by his partner Donna, three children, and his family.
