Ex- BBC Advisers Participate in MPs' Inquiry After Assertions of Bias in Leaked Document
We start with queries from Conservative lawmaker the committee chair, that oversees the committee.
She opens by providing background to the leaked memorandum written by Michael Prescott and published in the Telegraph.
"I do not desire the British Broadcasting Corporation tilting toward one side or the other, I simply desire it straight, unbiased and fair," he declares.
When asked if he considers the British Broadcasting Corporation is institutionally biased, he responds: "No I don't. It is important to note, a great deal the British Broadcasting Corporation produces is world class - encompassing documentary and non-factual content."
Nevertheless, he states: "There exists significant effort that requires attention at the BBC."
The second previous consultant British Broadcasting Corporation adviser examined by the panel, Caroline Daniel, says she views the British Broadcasting Corporation extremely earnestly and that it operates a "ongoing system and lively discussion" across fluid and multifaceted topics.
"Was the BBC prepared to conduct a proper dialogue and argument and implement changes?" she questions. "In my view, affirmative, they were."
