Heavy Downpours Aggravate Conditions for Evacuated Palestinians in Gaza, Agencies Alert
Persistent rains over the recent period have intensified the extremely difficult situation of the many hundreds of thousands of uprooted residents in the region, as stated by relief organizations.
"Terrible" Night Brings Severe Dangers
A representative described the recent storm as "horrendous", with precipitation so severe that up to 15cm (6in) of water accumulated on the ground.
"These conditions was truly terrible for the residents. The heavy rains were so intense... And the gales were so forceful," said the official.
Authorities voice grave worry that minors residing in makeshift shelters in wet garments will contract hypothermia and various illnesses.
Fatalities and Significant Destruction
The health ministry have confirmed that one baby has succumbed from exposure and at least 11 other people have been killed in structural failures caused by the harsh conditions.
Other reports suggest a greater number of casualties. Officials stated that multiple structures had totally fallen and dozens had been partly destroyed.

Aid Distribution Deemed Insufficient
Organizations have escalated distribution of tarpaulins, bedding and clothing following the truce commenced, but they have said there is remains not enough aid entering.
"We are working relentlessly to bring in that relief and to hand it out, but the size of the necessities is so immense that we are faced with a great number of families and children who are genuinely enduring hardship nightly," warned one spokesperson.
Long-Term Challenges and Ceasefire Plans
The next stage of the truce includes proposals for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with political arrangements, the removal of military forces, and other terms.
Aid groups have stressed the necessity for "greater and continuous humanitarian assistance to address pressing and long-term requirements."
The war was triggered by an offensive in the autumn of 2023. Following military operations have resulted in a significant number of lives lost in the territory, according to health ministry figures.
