Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was gunned down in the downtown area on Tuesday afternoon.

Police said the 40-year-old presenter was confronted by a trio of assailants, one of whom opened fire on him before fleeing on foot.

The purpose of the shooting has not been established and no suspects have been apprehended have taken place, police said.

How It Happened

Law enforcement revealed that Stock was ambushed as he was departing from a premises near the Carlton Centre.

He had devoted time at the site managing the setup of security systems, which had been reportedly taken over by unknown people, it was reported.

"Authorities believe the deceased was confronted by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they shot at him before running from the location on foot," a police statement confirmed.

Security camera video reportedly depicted a man with dreadlocks and clad in what resembled a guard's attire opening fire on Stock before fleeing.

The DJ sought to escape after he was wounded but succumbed to his injuries across the street.

Police added that Stock had an unused firearm and it was not a robbery during the incident.

Crucial forensic evidence, like bullet casings, were recovered from the location.

"Our information indicates they covered significant ground after the attack, and officers have been following their trail to find their location," remarked an authority figure.
