Slot Maintains He Is Safe and Has Liverpool's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Loss

Arne Slot conceded that it was expected for doubts to be asked about his position after another heavy defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their ninth defeat in twelve games, marking the team's worst run since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Dutch league title holders on a tough night at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I've received plenty of support from above,” the coach remarked.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and get a victory naturally but if you are in a managerial role and struggling then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my role. It is not the first time I’ve been in a tough spot but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Talks with Club Management

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his dialogues with the team officials, Slot explained:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful for the squad and to me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me constantly each day to say they trust me.”

He added, “During our regular exchanges I perceive the confidence. However I've not talked to them since this defeat yet so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Problems and Squad Reaction

Slot highlighted known weaknesses from his team in their Champions League loss, namely wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the answers. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder remarked.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I’m past getting mad inside. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the phrases.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the team I support. I support them, and I’ve seen this club for years.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Reds side going through a phase such as this with outcomes so bad.”

Jones stated, “But we continue to wear that badge on our chest. And until that badge is gone, we’re always going to fight.”

“Our aim is to get this team return to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all again what this club is about and the reason it's called the best team in the world.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
