The Blue Jays Secure Fall Classic Matchup With Los Angeles Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

The outfielder previously helped the Houston Astros securing the World Series in the 2017 season.

The Toronto Blue Jays reached their first World Series after the 1993 season by overcoming the Mariners in the final seventh game of the ALCS.

Trailing 3-1, Springer smashed a three-run homer in the seventh frame, leading the sole Canadian team in Major League Baseball to a 4-3 series victory in the seven-game series. Awaiting them are the Dodgers, the team that is the current crown, in the forthcoming Fall Classic.

"I'm thrilled for our team, our city, our country," said Springer, a star of the Houston Astros team that secured the 2017 title. "This is such an incredible feeling."

George Springer has now slugged 23 total October home runs, ranking him third on the list after Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (27).

"I can't think of another player in the world that I'd prefer in that situation other than him with his playoff prowess," said manager John Schneider.

Seattle's team, despite leading the early in the series, remain the sole team yet to make an appearance in a Fall Classic.

Wilson commented "there's no question that it hurts" following his club's elimination at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but commended their performance throughout the year.

"It's a special team. Unfortunately that we ended up on the unsuccessful side of the series," he continued.

The Blue Jays won the title on both previous visits in 1992 and 1993, and will welcome the Los Angeles in the first game on the upcoming Friday.
